Continuing our exploration of similarities between Nature and the Human body….
Onions
Onions resemble the cells in the human body. We are all familiar with the fact that onions “make us cry”, but these tears actually wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. Research shows that onions clear waste materials from body cells. Though Onions can add a pungency to the breath, they are widely used in culinary preparations and are a simple and inexpensive way to add flavor and taste to food.
Grapefruit
Grapefruits resemble mammary glands of the breasts. They belong to the citrus family and are a natural hybrid between oranges and pomelos. Besides Vitamin C which boosts the immune system, they also contain potassium, lycopene, choline and liminoids. Liminoids are known to help fight certain types of cancers. Grapefruit has surprising health benefits. It regulates blood lipids, speeds up metabolism, acts as a liver cleanser , burns fats, reduces gum disease and lowers cholesterol.
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes bear a strong resemblance to the pancreas and protect them from damage associated with cancer or aging. They are an excellent source of vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene, which is a powerful antioxidant.
One of the most important benefits of Sweet potatoes is that they do not cause blood sugar spikes; since their natural sugars are slowly released into the bloodstream, helping to ensure a balanced and regular source of energy, without the blood sugar spikes linked to fatigue and weight gain. In this way, they help balance the glycemic index and promote healthy organ functioning.
Sweet potatoes contain iron which provides energy and aids in red and white blood cell production, resistance to stress, proper immune functioning, and the metabolizing of protein. They are also a good source of vitamin D, which helps build healthy bones.
Ginseng
The Ginseng root resembles the shape of a human body. The most commonly known varieties are American Ginseng and Asian Ginseng. Both are believed to provide an energy boost, sharpen memory and mental abilities, regulate blood sugar and cholesterol levels, reduce stress and promote relaxation.
Ginseng has holistic curative properties. Ginseng is used to improve thinking, concentration, memory and physical endurance. Ginseng tea can act as a stimulant for the brain cells and help improve focus and thinking ability. Ginseng is also used to help with depression, anxiety and as a natural cure for chronic fatigue. It’s known to boost the immune system, fight infections and help men with erectile dysfunction.
Clams
Clams bear a resemblance to the testicles. Studies show that clams contain folic acid and zinc; which can have a beneficial effect on male sexual function. Clams are also very high in iron and they have roughly the same protein and fat content as chicken.
Clams contain Selenium which helps fight arthritis and Riboflavin which promotes healthy skin. Finally, they are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids which are heart-healthy fats.
